Surrounded By Enemies

The battle rages thick and as in all battles there are a lot of losses. One platoon is clearly not doing so well. At nightfall they find themselves surrounded by enemies. After a tense night as day is about to break.

The Platoon Commander gathers his men for a talk, “Well, there is some good news and there is some bad news. First, I would like to give you the bad one. As you all know we are surrounded by enemies on all sides. Now, command tells mi that they are unable to send in reinforcements or supplies. God damn it, not even air support!” He takes a long pause and looks up to the heavens in supplication. A young rifleman stammers and stutters forcing the words out of his miserable existence,”Ssir… wha… what is the gogood news?”

The Platoon Commander looks them in their eyes, one by one, his sight penetrating their souls, his dour expression turning into one of devilish delight,”Boys, the good news is, now we can attack in any direction!”

Thinking?

I recently came across this amazing quote by Socrates…

“I cannot teach anybody anything, I can only make them think.”

I tried too but did not get anywhere trying to teach but I did learn some things in the process. Actually, I learned one of the very few things that I have actually managed to learn in my short and insignificant lifetime.

Now I wonder if I ever inspired anyone to think. I have my doubts, but I can always think about it 🙂

The Guarentee Of A Dream

“No dream is guaranteed commander, the grace of age is that we learn to accept”. As said to Commander John Chricton by the Pilot of the dying Leviathan in the first episode of Season 4 of Farscape.

But then…

What’s there to life without a dream. Dream a dream and if it does not materialize don’t get bogged down, just go ahead and weave another…
