Make the best use of what is in your power, and take the rest as it happens. Some things are up to us [eph’ hêmin] and some things are not up to us. Our opinions are up to us, and our impulses, desires, aversions-in short, whatever is our own doing. Our bodies are not up to us, nor are our possessions, our reputations, or our public offices, or, that is, whatever is not our own doing.

The Thirty Theses ~ Jason Godesky

Sometimes you wish, you wish that you had not questioned so much. For once pulled off, the veil of ignorance is a difficult one to put back. Only two choices then remain, either to live a dual life, with the truth gnawing at your insides while you smile and wave at those around you. Or, you could stand your ground in which case you will be stripped and you will be stabbed, the un-initiated are a most foul lot indeed and your insides will be put up for display at the town square.

But then on the other hand there is quite nothing like freedom.

The individual has always had to struggle to keep from being overwhelmed by the tribe. If you try it, you will be lonely often, and sometimes frightened. But no price is too high to pay for the privilege of owning yourself. ~ Friedrich Nietzsche ~ Wikipedia

So, venture forth boldly and hope that Wolfgang was right and mighty forces come to your aid 😉

This is the first organized piece of text that I came across in early 2008 that practically demolished the world view that I held at that time. I had suspected till that point that much was not quite right about the world that I lived in and this was where face behind the mask started to come into focus.

Below is a quick hook to what, The Thirty Thesis is all about. Quoted from the link above, so you might want to proceed there directly.

What are these?

We all have basic assumptions about the world, human nature, and the relationship between the two. We are taught certain perspectives as children, and this recieved wisdom forms the common ground for communication. Ultimately, when we see the whole picture, our major disagreements are squabbles over details. Should gays be allowed to marry? We assume here a common understanding of what “marriage” means. Should we raise or lower taxes? We assume the legitimacy of government, and of taxes at all!

What happens when the disagreement occurs at an even more basic level? Like, whether or not our civilization is even a good thing?

The case is complex, but in truth no more complex than our “common ground” of unexamined, recieved wisdom. In many cases, it is much less complex. But it is different. Since forming these ideas, I have faced an increasing obstacle in communication. Unspoken, differing assumptions force me routinely to return to the same arguments again and again. So I resolved some time ago to crystalize my philosophy into a single, comprehensive work, which could from a base for further communication.

Approaching The Limits

http://paulchefurka.ca/
The silver lining I see is that all the pressures coming from this process of correction can be useful goads toward personal self-development. “In all matters, strive to do the right thing.” What does this mean to each of us? What does mindful living in the midst of the whirlwind entail, what does it require of us in terms of personal growth, in the development of wisdom and self-awareness? How might each of us resolve our alienation – from each other, from our societies, from nature, from our own place in the universe? How may we find the re-connections that are essential if we are to emerge from this tumultuous, careless human adolescence into individual and collective adulthood? These are deep questions for dark times.

Hmm… Perhaps, I need to make separate articles of each website, giving a brief overview and essential reading list.

To be, or not to be, that is the question:

He sits there speechless, observing her. Order and chaos, emerging and dissolving in a never ending dance of light. He wonders, did December come early this year, perhaps July never ended?

Hey! Hey Man! Snap out of it. Are you going to finally start or not? Life asks.

He smiles, why not?

It is going to be a long december, he thinks, the only difference being that there are going to be a lot of Pearls 😉

Watermark

The man, was trying to convince The other to get married, consume and have children.

The other pointed to the mountains in the backdrop and asked him if they were covered in snow all year round 15 years back. He said, yes.

The other asked him, if things continued the way they are, how likely does the possibility of the mountains entirely running out of snow in the next 15-20 years seem to him. He said, very likely.

The other asked him if anyone was doing anything to stop the snow from melting away? He said, he was not a scientist but we are losing the forests, the number of people are increasing and that there is much too much pollution, etc, in short, he said no, nobody is trying to reverse the ice loss.

The other asked him what could be expected if the mountains lost the snow entirely. He said, we would have acute water shortages.

The other peered into his soul and asked him whether, The other was doing a favor to his children by not having any. After-all, they would be competing for the same dwindling water supply. He paused for a long time, The other could almost hear the machinery in his brains whirring and then, he said yes.

The other smiled and said to him, life is too short, stop complaining my friend. Have fun and let The others have some fun too, that is, while the water lasts. For sooner or later, all that will be left are watermarks.

Recently I had the pleasure of watching a visually stunning documentary called Watermark, the subject matter to the uninitiated could be equally moving.

Silver Linings

Him, walking on a wire,
7 billion, a pandemonium of clowns,
Her, singing the pirate song,
Faithfully leaping.

Inebriating thoughts, oh so drunk,
Seasons floating, dark and damp,
Sharing realities, foggy perhaps groggy,
Bridges smoldering, a smoke filled backdrop.

Inverting perspectives, uprooted narratives,
Puppets chasing, seductive Luna elusive,
Compromising pizzas, killers in drag,
Panoramas warring, A strange little cat.

Blooming barren trees, selfish love,
Wonderful strangers woandering, an empire of dirt,
Shattering the night, a brilliant sunrise,
Silver linings, over the mountain tops.

Death, off the tightrope,
7, a murder of crows,
Life, whispering sweet nothings,
Slowly falling.

Just when you have completely given up, she kicks you in the mivonks. As you gasp for air sprawled out in the dirt, she hovers over you smiling gleefully adding insult to injury. Anger floods your being, as you vow revenge and get off the ground. She runs away giggling, mission accomplished. What can I say, life is a mean and persistent one, maybe, that is why I love and respect her so…

In case you are still wondering, “Hey, WTF, what happened to the obituary?” All I can say is “Life.” 😉
