The man, was trying to convince The other to get married, consume and have children.
The other pointed to the mountains in the backdrop and asked him if they were covered in snow all year round 15 years back. He said, yes.
The other asked him, if things continued the way they are, how likely does the possibility of the mountains entirely running out of snow in the next 15-20 years seem to him. He said, very likely.
The other asked him if anyone was doing anything to stop the snow from melting away? He said, he was not a scientist but we are losing the forests, the number of people are increasing and that there is much too much pollution, etc, in short, he said no, nobody is trying to reverse the ice loss.
The other asked him what could be expected if the mountains lost the snow entirely. He said, we would have acute water shortages.
The other peered into his soul and asked him whether, The other was doing a favor to his children by not having any. After-all, they would be competing for the same dwindling water supply. He paused for a long time, The other could almost hear the machinery in his brains whirring and then, he said yes.
The other smiled and said to him, life is too short, stop complaining my friend. Have fun and let The others have some fun too, that is, while the water lasts. For sooner or later, all that will be left are watermarks.

Recently I had the pleasure of watching a visually stunning documentary called Watermark, the subject matter to the uninitiated could be equally moving.
